Two men shot on West Lombard Street in broad daylight Baltimore attack
BALTIMORE, MD - Two men are recovering after being shot Thursday afternoon in a broad daylight incident on West Lombard Street that later led both victims to seek treatment at separate area hospitals.
Southwest District officers responded at approximately 4:35 p.m. on December 4 to reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of West Lombard Street. Moments later, police received notifications from two local hospitals that shooting victims had arrived seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
Officers spoke with a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the leg and was listed in stable condition. A second victim, 22 years old, suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and was also reported to be in stable condition. Investigators determined that both men had been shot at the same West Lombard Street location.
Southwest District Shooting detectives processed the scene and have taken over the investigation. Police have not released any information about suspects, a possible motive, or whether the victims were targeted or struck at random.
The shooting occurred in an area of the city not unfamiliar with gun violence, though such incidents in the late afternoon remain uncommon. Detectives are reviewing any available surveillance footage and are encouraging witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
